His areas of interest are restorative, pediatric, and sedative dentistry. With a fear for dentists as a child himself. He has since developed quite the empathetic mind and management skills for the anxious patient.
On his days off, Andy enjoys a hit of Golf and volunteering for Kidhope, which through World Vision, provides mentorship for children to allow them to develop a healthy attitude towards their schooling life.
Myfanwy Williams – Hygienist
Myfanwy Williams, Senior Dental Hygienist, has been at Pascoe Vale Dental Group since November 2011. She has worked in a number of dental practices in Melbourne, working with dentists with varying specialty fields in dentistry.
Finding the career of dental hygienist a little later in life, with more life experience, meant that Myfanwy was very sure of her career choice. She is dedicated to improving the health of patients’ gums (periodontal health), and believes in getting the job done thoroughly in the most gentle manner possible. Good periodontal health is essential for overall oral health, and also assists with general health. She also performs teeth whitening, and gets a lot of satisfaction from seeing the results it can achieve.
Myfanwy finds it very satisfying working with patients to improve their oral health, especially if they are just starting out on the journey of looking after their teeth and gums, and particularly if it has been a while since their last visit.
Keshia Forbes – Hygienist
Born in South Africa, our hygienist Keshia Forbes has been in Melbourne since September 2012. Prior to that, Keshia lived in New Zealand for 13 years where she graduated from the University of Otago with Bachelors in Health Science (Dental Hygiene) in 2007. Working in Auckland, New Zealand for 5 years after graduating, she moved to Melbourne and has been a wonderful addition to the team since.
Keshia’s philosophy for dental hygiene is to serve as a source of oral hygiene knowledge and provide a service that involves the prevention and treatment of oral diseases.
Her interests include running, going to the gym, cooking, baking and spending time with family and friends.
Shugufa completed her studies in Biomedical Science with Honours in Physiology, before making the transition to complete her Oral Health Therapy Degree at The University of Melbourne. Being an Oral Health Therapist means that she is qualified to undertake comprehensive examinations of all ages, diagnose, take x-rays, and perform Scale & Cleans along with undertaking fillings for children and adolescents up to the age of 25 years of age.
She has worked across Melbourne, in both the private and public sector. Her passion throughout is advocating Oral Health education, thus has been involved in a number of oral health planning initiatives, inclusive but not limited to the School Dental Drive. Long gone are the days of children or even adults fearing the dental surgery; as Shugufa’s gentle, cheerful and caring nature puts all our patient at ease almost instantly.
Outside of dentistry, Shugufa is an avid baker, gym-goer, enjoying spending time with her niece and
exploring the greater Melbourne region.
