Dental Implants & Mini Implants

Poor oral hygiene, disease, injuries and accidents are prime reasons why people lose teeth. It is vital to address a missing tooth or teeth as soon as the loss occurs because gaps break the rigid structure of your mouth, which keep all teeth permanently aligned.

Additional pressure on surrounding teeth causes teeth to move out of place. Over time, missing teeth can produce a host of related dental problems such as eating and speech difficulties. Ultimately, one's nutrition and overall health may be compromised if one’s ability to eat certain foods is restricted.

Dental implants and mini implants replace missing teeth and are available at Pascoe Vale Dental Group to help our patients overcome tooth loss:

Dental Implants

A dental implant is a permanent artificial tooth root (titanium screw) integrated into a patient’s jawbone to hold a replacement tooth or bridge (group of replacement teeth) in place. They are highly successful and offer patients a multitude of benefits. Firstly, they are permanently anchored into the jawbone, so patients can confidently eat, speak and laugh without fearing their replacement tooth will fall out. Dental implants are colour matched to replicate the natural appearance and lustre of existing teeth. They’re also very durable and long-lasting.

Before dental implants are placed, your dentist will carry out a comprehensive examination to confirm that you have enough health jaw bone to hold the dental implant in place and ensure long-lasting results.

Mini Implants

Mini dental implants (MDI) are a smaller type of dental implant with fewer parts and a diameter less than 3mm. They are integrated into a patent’s jawbone most commonly to secure loose upper and lower dentures in place, or replace a missing tooth or teeth. MDI benefits are similar to traditional dental implants. They are closely matched to the natural colour of existing teeth and are permanently fixed. On top of this, MDIs offer a much quicker fitting time, may suit patients with higher amounts of bone loss, and are about half the price of traditional implants.
