They’re an opportunity for your dentist to examine the health of your teeth and gums and identify potential problems as soon as possible. If oral problems are treated early, there’s a better chance of reversing damage and avoiding the cost of more complex, expensive and time-consuming dental procedures (such as a root canal). It’s also important to receive a professional clean to get rid of built-up tartar that cannot be removed at home, and have fluoride solutions applied to prevent future tooth decay. Daily oral care at home
Maintaining your oral hygiene is a team effort. The Pascoe Vale Dental Group team will professionally evaluate and clean your teeth and gums during your bi-annual assessments. Ultimately, between dental visits, it’s your responsibility to care for your oral health at home with a daily routine.
We recommend you thoroughly brush your teeth, around gums and your tongue twice a day for a minimum of two minutes. Floss at least once per day to remove residual food that brushing couldn’t reach. Try to use dental products containing fluoride, such as toothpastes and mouthwashes, where possible. Limiting snacks between main meals and eating a balanced diet will also help to maintain healthy teeth and gums.
